The mill of Pombie is the only survivor of the Agenais paper mills. Its dates from the 18th century and was grafted on an older building which included a forging mill and a fuller. The paper mill would have been created in 1736 and manufactured purple and white papers for packing.

Pombie at been taken over at the beginning of the Eighties by papermaker Georges Duchêne known in the whole world by artists. It will know a new life and the machines will be adapted in order to manucfacture paper f great quality, with new cotton rags, and appreciate universally by the artists, publishers, engravers, designers...
 
A terrible fire in March 2002 destroyed a large part of the mill, the machines and thousand of sheets, putting and end to any exploitation. Courage et tenacity of Mr Duchêne children made the revival of the paper mill possible since december 2003.

The " Dutch crusher " which appeared at the end of the 19th century is used to shred cotton or linen rags with water and glue.

LInclusions can be added (petals, fleck, ...) to decorate paper.
